“Every Hero Has a Story”, was a great success!
Week One began with Brian Blazer’s Amazing Animals. Brian is extremely knowledgeable about animals, their behavior and their environments. He is a great presenter and teacher with a wonderful ability to keep adults and children totally engaged with his humorous and informative interactions with the animals and his audience!
Week Two was a tribute to our local military heroes and included discussions and presentations by the following: Former Sgt. James Peterman, Retired Major Elbert Davis, Lt. Col. Payne, Sgt. Jeff Dennis, and veteran Mr. Freddie Brannon.
Week Three highlighted our first responder heroes and included informative presentations from the Abbeville Police Department and Abbeville Fire and Rescue. Abbeville Officer Rebecca Powell and Boys and Girls Club member, Madisen Grimsley, demonstrate Items officers use to collect evidence. Mr. Davey Dozier, 911 dispatcher with Abbeville Police Department, explains to the children when to call 911 and what information they need to know and tell the 911 operator in an emergency. Ms. Connie Hicks from Abbeville Fire and Rescue conducted an informative fire safety presentation.
The final week of our Summer Reading Program included amazing stories of Circus heroes, along with magic tricks, amazing juggling, and hilarious slapstick humor presented by Lee Anderson! Lee’s one-man educational circus brings wonder, fun, and laughter to kids of all ages, including those that are kids at heart!
